Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa Deploys AmeriCorps members to Southwest Iowa

HAMBURG, IOWA, April 11, 2019 – Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa deployed a crew to Hamburg, Iowa in response to the flooding natural disaster. This 30-day deployment of 13 AmeriCorps members and two staff will assist Iowa community residents in Southwest Iowa of who are recovering from last month’s massive floods compounded by snow melt. 27th Annual Great Mississippi Riverboat Cleanup Success: Conservation Corps Minnesota engaged 111 volunteers this Tuesday, 9/18/18 to remove over 2 tons of trash from the Mississippi River

City of Saint Paul, MN., August 19, 2018 – Conservation Corps Minnesota’s 27th Annual Great Mississippi Riverboat Cleanup, held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, mobilized 111 volunteers to remove 2.08 tons (4,160 pounds) of trash from Mississippi River shoreline areas near Pig’s Eye Island. The volunteers found many sizable items such as a broken house boat, a 350-pound tractor tire as well as 25 vehicle tires. Also, many smaller items were removed that would otherwise harm wildlife habitat including hundreds of plastic bottles, straws, Styrofoam waste, and other plastics. Read More

Conservation Corps Minnesota partners with ALLETE, Inc. to Remove Invasive Species in the City of Duluth at Fairmount Park on Monday, August 13, 2018

City of Duluth, MN., July 31, 2018 – Conservation Corps Minnesota is partnering with ALLETE, Inc. to host a community cleanup event called Restore Duluth on Monday, August 13, 2018 from 1pm to 4pm at Fairmount Park (72nd Avenue West & Grant Avenue in Duluth, MN 55807). The event addresses the City of Duluth’s need to remove terrestrial invasive species, primarily Japanese Knotweed, from one of its most highly visited recreation areas of Fairmount Park. Read More
