Foundations expand youth opportunities
The Donaldson Foundation, ERM Foundation and Carlson Family Foundation have joined a host of Youth Outdoors partners to expand Conservation Corps Minnesota’s successful urban afterschool program. Beside four youth crew bases in Saint Paul, two were added in Minneapolis, bringing the total number of youth enrolled annually to 84 ― more than a 75 percent increase since the program was launched in 2009. Multiple locations give youth easier access to the service-learning program and the opportunity to impact their own neighborhoods.
“Youth Outdoors helps teenagers gain important job skills and environmental science knowledge as they lead volunteers and revitalize their neighborhoods,” says Tom Miller, Donaldson Company global quality director and Donaldson Foundation board member. “We’re very pleased to support this very important program.”
