East Coast deployment continues
After continuous deployment from the end of October through the end of January followed by a short break, a final Corps team was deployed to the East Coast on February 25 for disaster relief in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. The team, led by Mark Child who served over the holidays in Rockaway, N.Y., headed to New Jersey where members will spend 22 days coordinating and managing operations at the Brigantine Volunteer Reception Center (VRC). They will finish mucking and gutting houses and, as likely the final AmeriCorps team deployed to Brigantine, will shutdown the VRC.
