For a third consecutive year, Summer Youth Corps crews helped plant trees at Voyageur’s National Park in International Falls, in collaboration with the Rainy Lake Sportfishing Club, Koochiching Soil & Water Conservation District and the National Parks Conservation Association. This year the group planted white spruce trees to stabilize the shoreline at a future water access site on the Rat Root River, a walleye spawning area that flows into the park. The August 8 event was part of NPCA’s Find Your Voice initiative, which features events in and near national parks to get the next generation invested in protecting these areas.
