New faces at St. Paul headquarters

We are happy to welcome Fadumo Hassan as our new administrative assistant. She is settling into the seat formerly occupied by Nicole Skurich, who is now Youth Outdoors assistant manager. Hassan holds a bachelor’s degree in Community Health Science from Concordia University in St. Paul. Through Concordia, she served on a disaster recovery team in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and did environmental work in Florida. Previously, she served as a crew leader with Project for Pride in Living summer youth programs in Minneapolis. 

 

As our new outreach associate, Valerie Steffl will coordinate outreach for our Friends & Alumni Association and volunteer network, lead social media efforts and assist with fundraising and general communications. Previously, Valerie worked with Upward Bound and completed an AmeriCorps term as a youth development specialist in Brooklyn, New York. She also served as St. Cloud State University Chronicle assistant news editor, The Minnesota Project intern and Saint Paul Public Schools Foundation communications and outreach coordinator. Valerie holds bachelor’s degrees in sociology and mass communications from St. Cloud State University.

 

In his position as program coordinator (previously held by James Adkinson), Matt Case will coordinate the Home Energy Squads, Apprenticeship Academy and individual AmeriCorps placements. He served as a corps member in the Young Adult Program from 2009-2012 in various leadership positions. Most recently, Matt provided key leadership while on emergency response deployment to the East Coast after Hurricane Sandy. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
