Youth help clean up Saint Paul

Though our unseasonably warm spring had cooled, Saturday, April 14 turned out to be a beautiful day for cleaning up the City of Saint Paul. Youth Outdoors crews led volunteer registration at four kickoff celebrations, which drew 1,100 volunteers. Crews then joined volunteers in cleaning up trash that had accumulated over the winter in the city’s parks, neighborhoods and streets. YO alum Ryan Lisson and several of his co-workers from Environmental Resources Management (ERM) joined the crew at Harriet Island. The ERM Foundation has also awarded a grant to Youth Outdoors. According to KSTP, the city estimates the volunteer time value at $16,000. The Saint Paul Parks and Recreation Department has hosted the annual cleanup for 25 years.
