Connecting kids to the outdoors

This year, Conservation Corps placed 12 young adults in year-long positions ― called Individual Placements ― with conservation nonprofits or government agencies. These members will serve full-time at a host site for their entire term of service. Alysa Zimmerle, one of this year’s single placements with Project Get Outdoors (GO), will be partnering on a project in northwest Minnesota called Tree Cookies and Mud Pies: A Recipe for Community Health. The project is being coordinated by University of Minnesota Extension Northwest Regional Sustainable Development Partnership (NW RSDP) to connect children and the outdoors by creating natural play spaces through storytelling, activity mapping and design workshops.
