Volunteers clean up Mississippi
More than 140 volunteers, staff and corps members turned out for the 24th annual Adopt-A-River cleanup at several sites along the Mississippi River near Red Rock Road, just north of the Waucouta Bridge. With water levels much lower than last year (remember those record rains?), there was plenty of trash to clean up along the shoreline. Volunteers removed enough trash to fill two 30-yard dumpsters, including large Styrofoam blocks, many bags of plastic bottles and more tires than any previous year, some of which had been collected by volunteers during the prior week.
