While Earth Day is every day here at the Conservation Corps, this is a big month for service and volunteering as AmeriCorps has designated April as “Environmental Stewardship” month. Last April, 230 Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa AmeriCorps members and 50 youth removed 1160 acres of invasive species, conducted prescribed burns on 13,070 acres, planted 6378 plants and trees, provided environmental education to 940 people, improved 75 miles of trail, installed over 25,000 square feet of rain gardens, and implemented energy saving fixes in 210 homes, just in one month alone! And our AmeriCorps members and youth will accomplish even more in April 2016!

Not only are we honoring the contributions Conservation Corps AmeriCorps members make to environmental stewardship, but more than 3,000 mayors, county officials, and tribal leaders thanked AmeriCorps members and Senior Corps volunteers for their service April 5, on Mayor and County Recognition Day for National Service.

Help thank our AmeriCorps members and youth, embrace environmental stewardship month, and celebrate Earth Day by joining the Corps at an upcoming volunteer event!
