National AmeriCorps director visits crew in St. Paul
Bill Basl, the national director of AmeriCorps, stopped by to visit a Conservation Corps crew at Lilydale Park in Saint Paul last Friday. AmeriCorps members have been working for the past two summers to restore valuable public green space along the Mississippi River where a Lilydale neighborhood once stood, but was dismantled because of continuous flooding. Basl, joined by other AmeriCorps, ServeMinnesota, Saint Paul Parks and Recreation and Conservation Corps staff, praised the members for their dedicated service and said they represent the best of America. Basl often says Americans need to “believe in something; stand for something; act on something.”
