CCMI names new executive director
The board of directors of Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa (CCMI) is delighted to announce that, after a comprehensive national search, Nalani McCutcheon has been selected as the next executive director of CCMI.
Nalani brings over 20 years of experience leading and managing nonprofit organizations, focusing on youth development, environmental education, and community building. Since November 2023, she has been serving as the interim executive director for CCMI, a role that aligns with her lifelong passion for environmental stewardship and empowering emerging leaders.
“During her time as interim executive director, Nalani demonstrated an unwavering commitment to our mission, cultivated strong relationships, and provided strategic direction that has strengthened our work and impact,” shares Erin Anderson, CCMI board chair. “Her passion for this work has been evident in everything she does, and we are thrilled to have her continue leading us in a permanent capacity”
Before joining CCMI, Nalani served as the founding executive director of Cannon River STEM School, developing a K-8 public charter school that emphasizes place-based, project-based, and inquiry-based learning. She also served as the executive director of River Bend Nature Center in Faribault, MN, where she led efforts to expand educational and recreational programs, revitalize trails, and enhance the center’s facilities.
Nalani has held other leadership roles, including associate director of Charter School Authorizing at Osprey Wilds Environmental Learning Center and senior director for the Northfield Healthy Community Initiative. She has also contributed to various nonprofit boards and committees, working on conservation, healthcare, social justice, and historical preservation efforts.
“CCMI plays a crucial role in preparing adults and youth to serve our community and steward our planet. I am humbled to be able to work alongside my fellow staff members in support of our mission,” shares Nalani.
