Corps members help elementary students plant rain gardens

Corps members help kindergarten students from College Prep Elementary prepare the ground for a rain garden at their school.Corps members helped more than 100 elementary students build a rain garden on their school grounds November 2. Students and staff of Saint Paul’s College Prep Elementary (CPE) cleared mulch and prepared the ground for installation, assisted by corps members and engineers. The work followed a groundbreaking ceremony attended by corps members, CPE students, staff and student council members, and staff from Capital Region Watershed District, Ramsey County Conservation District and CPE’s landlord. Not only will the rain garden be a milestone in CPE’s history, but it is a hands-on learning tool that aligns with Minnesota state academic standards.
