Cleaning up rivers with Project Aware

July 11-15, over 300 volunteers took part in the 14th Annual Project AWARE (A Watershed Awareness River Expedition) hosted by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Volunteers spent the week along the Lower Des Moines river cleaning-up 52 river miles and removing 40 tons of trash. A crew from Conservation Corps helped manage and staff the event and several crews from Iowa took part as volunteers.
