A week’s work netted more than 400 tires pulled from the Cedar River by a Corps field crew in mid-August. The multi-year project, in partnership with the Cedar River Watershed District, covers a 19-mile stretch of the river south of Austin, Minn. Since 2011, they have cleared out 1,100 tires. “It’s very gratifying to see all of the tires piles up that we pull out each day. It’s very rewarding, because you can physically see how much work you’ve done,” said Crew Leader Travis Wilder. See more coverage here and here.
