Preparing Fire Lines

This week in lieu of prescribed burning down in Whitewater, MN due to April showers we spent time creating fire lines for future prescribed burning! Fire lines are used to manage and protect the land that shouldn’t be burned. It’s incredible how essential wildfires are in MN to prevent vegetation build up and support both coniferous and prairie ecosystems! This is an opportunity I wouldn’t have from my home state of Ohio. See the before and after photos from a ravine we cleaned up to be used as a fire line this week!
